One Pot Okra (ila alasepo)

One pot okra soup, popularly known as ila alasepo in yoruba language is a quick and easy way to prepare a tasty okra soup. It can also be pretty cheap! If you are on a tight budget and you want some tasty value for your money, this soup is for you!!!

INGREDIENTS
Cooked mixed meats (beef, cow skin, liver, cow foot... whatever catches your fancy)
Palm oil
A handful of spinach
Fresh shrimps (optional)
Stock Cubes
Dried Ground pepper/ chilli flakes (fresh scotch bonnet pepper/ ata rodo can also be used)
Ground Crayfish
Chopped / blended Okra
Flaked smoked mackerel
Water/meat Stock

 PREPARATION

Place a clean pot containing your meats on heat. Begin adding all the ingredients...

Once all is added, you can add some water or meat stock if needed, depending on the amount of liquid already in the pot (if you previously boiled the meat in the pot and started adding your ingredients, there would have been liquid).

Stir it all in very well and taste for salt and pepper...adjust as needed.

Allow to boil for a few minutes, we don't want to over cook our fresh veggies (okra and spinach), so about 7 minutes should do the trick.

Here's our delicious plate of soup ready to be paired with eba, pounded yam or any swallow meal of your choice.
